Blackmore's Quay

Part of 'The Purple Line'

< Back to 'The Purple Line'

Blackmore's Quay, named after guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, is a harbourside scene. There is a fishing wharf with warehouses, small painted cottages, a market area and a pub named the Rainbow Rising, one of Blackmore's finest albums!

There is a single line of track and behind that a row of shops and an auto-repair garage.

As well as the obvious Blackmore naming there are many other band mentions along with a warehouse named 'A-200 Fisheries' with a tag line of 'Smoked On The Water'!

The terrace house/shops are a Metcalfe kit amended for the shop fronts. The warehouses are barns turned against each other to avoid the barn doors showing. The auto-repairers is a scalescenes kit download, and the first time I've attempted one. All the other buildings are designed and built from scratch.

The boats came from a trinket shop in Cadgwith Cove, Cornwall.

The water was created using toilet paper and lots of PVA, then emulsion paint and many layers of yacht varnish.
