Box Valley
< Back to Individual Boxes
Box Valley was the first Box File that I made.
Box Valley depicts an idyllic country canal scene. The more
you look, the more there is to see!
The railway is an oval that runs under a hill and crosses the
canal at two points.
On the hill sheep graze in the meadow, whilst a road leads
down to the small station halt.
There are steps from the station leading down to the canal
path. A narrow boat is moored at the canal side.
A man rows his little boat up the canal whilst swans glide
by. There is a depth gauge at one end of the canal.
On the other side of the canal, despite the 'No Fishing'
sign, a chap is fishing in the canal... but he's about to be
caught by the local bobby walking down towards him.
On the opposite side of the sheep hill is a country pub with
it's own conservatory offering a fine view from it's garden.
The buildings, walls and canal towpath are all scratch built
using Metcalfe card. The narrow boat is painted white metal. The
cars etc are from Oxford models.
This is usually run with a Terrier loco pulling a couple of
small wagons and a guards van. Due to the tight curves and wheel
alignment of the Terrier, the loco has to run backwards.
