Coverdale Sidings
Part of 'The Purple Line'
< Back to 'The Purple Line'
Coverdale Sidings, named after the bands second singer, David
Coverdale.
This is quite a busy box! At the rear is a brewery building,
scratch built and my own design. The Coverdale Brewery making
some fantastic ales! The chimney is removable so that the box
lid can shut. There is also a small scratch built signal box set
amongst a wooded area, this hides the wire from the back of the
box to the point.
This box sits at the mid-point of the set, so it made sense
to create a small halt station, made out of balsa wood and
painted.
The siding splits the front section in two. On one side is a
small timer merchants, Simper's. This is actually the Metcalfe
Tractor Shed, shelved out and lots of cut coffee stirrers and
matchsticks to represent the planks of wood, along with a small
shed as the office.
On the other side of the siding is a Transport Depot, Speed
King Transport. This is part of the older Metcalfe Bus Garage,
which I was lucky to find in the back of a model shop whilst
away on holiday. There is also a small loading platform.
