Toan-F'ro
< Back to Micro Layouts
Toan-F'ro is a very small layout of a town tram line and it's
terminus.
The board measures 18" x 5".
This was a very quick build, under seven days, and was
inspired after seeing a OO tram layout at an exhibition in a
relatively small space. I already had all the required track
pieces, and the buildings were from an uncompleted project which
gave me a good start!
The small fiddle yard is incorporated into the layout sitting
behind the right side's front section. It's just one oint and
two straights that areough to hold a single car tram. The little
terminus station has two lines with a platform between them. All
the points are operated via the wire-in-tube method from the
rear of the layout.
All the buildings are low relief Metcalfe kits, two sets of
the town shops plus the bank and shop set. The only piece of
green on the layout is small tree in a planter in the centre of
the layout with benches around it.
All the buildings are fitted with lights and street lamps are
connected to the same system.
Kato Hirohima style trams are used for running on the layout,
but only the front motorised cars of the two car sets. It is
possible to operate with three trams, making use of the fiddle
yard and front storage siding.
