Moor To Sea

Part of 'The Ivy Line'

< Back to 'The Ivy Line'

The railway line emerges from the tunnel portal having left St. Aden's Farm into sunshine and the Moors View Holiday Park.

This box depicts a holiday and caravan park.

To the rear of the box the railway runs through and has a small siding for wagons. There is also a Signal Box and rail workers hut.

In the background is a glorious view of Dartmoor (Brentor actually).

The front of the box is home to a small caravan park with a few tourists parking their caravans and heading for the beach.

The beach is situated at the very front of the box, and features many sunbathers as well as a row of beach huts.

A road leads to the park with the booking office and attached cottage. There is a Shepherd's Hut for hire next to the cottage. On the grass by the beach, there is a tea pavilion and seating outside on sunny days.

The Pavilion and Cottage are Metcalfe kits, the cottage being slightly adapted. The beach huts were found on eBay sold as garden sheds, so I turned all the windows inwards! The signal box and railway hut are scratch built.

The small section of sea is painted blue with emulsion and then covered with yacht varnish, the sand on the beach is, you guessed it... Sand! It's actually sand from a pet shop for budgie cages, but is perfect as it's very fine.

The caravans are a mix of Wiking and 3D Printed from ebay.

The single point for the siding is operated via wire in tube from behind the box. The track is by Peco.
