Moor Boxes

The Army Base

The Army Base is just that, a scene depicting a small base.

The railway runs around to a delivery platform at the back of the box.Two Nissan huts along with a supplies store (Barn), a main operations building which was designed and built from scratch, and a scratch built security hut with barrier. Down one side of the box are terrace rows of barracks housing, deliberatly left fairly plain looking. On a hill sits a now redundant Pill Box.

Like most of the small ovals, it is built into a Q-Coonect Box File to gain the extra depth required to fit the smallest radius Kato curves that form the oval of track.

Apart from the scratch builds, the other buildings are from Metcalfe kits, with the low relief terrace houses being made about half the kits depth to allow room between them and the track, which it offset to the left side of the box.

The soldiers in the parade ground and the marching band are from Langley Models and all had to be hand paited... look carefully, the soldiers are all wearing camoflage fatigues.

The vehicles are Oxford Models, which took a bit of tracking down as all are now discontinued by the company.

Power is fed into the back of the box to track coming under the hill in the corner to hide the wires. Power as always is from a DC controller.
