Moor Boxes

Viaduct Avenue

Viaduct Avenue is a fairly simple and straight forward oval in a box file.

It depicts a quiet and peaceful non-existent village somewhere in England, with road down it's centre disappearing under a viaduct.... no guesses regards the box name then!

Peeping Tom!On one side of the road is the village Post Office and tea Rooms, a Metcalfe kit made straight out the pack. There is a small cobbled area beside it where the tea room customers can have a cuppa and watch the trains go by.

Across the road are two dwellings. The house is again a Metcalfe kit, but slightly modified to fit the space, next to it is a scratch built bungalow.

All the gardens are in full (and bright!) bloom. The lady of the bungalow is trying a spot of sunbathing, whilst the peeping Tom neighbour looks over the hedge!

The viaduct is scratch built, with the oval track passing under it on each side. The centre road passes through with a false back in place to hide the train track. The sole reason for the viaduct was to break the view of the track so it is less obvious to the eye that it is an oval. A piece of 'static' track runs along the top, where a train passes over.

The oval is Kato track using 117mm curves. The photos show a GWR 0-4-2 tank engine pulling a short goods train. I recently discovered that despite it's apparent larger size it will run around these tight curves.

Power, as always, is from a DC controller plugged into the back of the box.
