McBride's Farm
Part of 'The Purple Line'
< Back to 'The Purple Line'
McBride's Farm, named after the newest member of Deep Purple,
guitarist Simon McBride.
The buildings in this box were all originally in the short
lived 'Coverdale Farm', a large double length box that I'd
planned as the centrepiece of the set. Unfortunately, floppy
boxes, a duff point and then an electrical failure all
contributed to the final product ending up in the bin! First
time that's happened.
McBride's Farm is a single box depicting a farm. A railway
line splits the working farm area from the houses, in a
switchback arrangement of track leading from the front of the
box to the back, whereupon it exits to
New Gloverton on Sea.
This is a fairly detailed box, with two barns, a chicken shed
and old brick shed at the back. There is a main farm house along
with small workers cottage at the front, along with pigs and
their stys at the front. I've added various hay bales, piles of
wood, and a slurry pit.
The back of the box has two banana sockets as this is the box
that has the power feed for all seven boxes.
